Hand-Penned Petals combined with Garden Birdhouses

By now you might know that I love the watercolour look, and the Hand-Penned Petals stamp set works beautifully. For this card I combined it with the Garden Birdhouses stamp set and did some colouring with Stampin' Blends.

I wanted to create a cottage garden foreground after being inspired by a video done by Ruth Trice from Artful Stampin' with Ruth. I stamped the images across the bottom of the card front using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. To fill in the flowers I used both Blushing Bride and Petal Pink, as well as Pale Papaya for the smaller flowers, then used Pear Pizzazz for the leaves. To add extra flowers to the scene, I used one of the floral stamps from Garden Birdhouses and coloured them with Pale Papaya and Balmy Blue Stampin' blends.

Next I stamped the Birdhouse and bird as well as the upright with Early Espresso ink, then coloured with Crumb Cake and Balmy Blue Stampin' blends. The leafy stems were inked with Pear Pizzazz and partially stamped over the edge to appear as background bushes. Small dots were added in Balmy Blue and Pale Papaya using the splatter stamp from Forever Fern. The larger Balmy Blue dots were done by only partially inking the stamp from Hand-Penned Petals. To get the look of sky at the top and part way down the sides of the card, I used the "splodge" image from Artistically Inked.

The front was then adhered to a Blushing Bride card base. I didn't add any embellishments, nor a sentiment as I thought it would detract from the scene.
