Forever Fern and Brilliant Wings simple card

Hello and welcome to my blog.

Today's card was created as part of the March 2021 Stampin' Up! colour challenge. The colours are Daffodil Delight, Garden Green and Seaside Spray, which retires soon along with the other 2019-21 In Colors.

I have to admit to having difficulty coming up with my own designs for cards, but taking part in the Stampin' Up! colour challenge each month pushes me to do exactly that. It's worth a try...

The card base is Seaside Spray. On the next layer of Whisper White, I stamped some of the leaves from the Forever Fern set with Garden Green. The Daffodil Delight leaves are also from Forever Fern, and I stamped them onto a scrap of Whisper White and then used Garden Green and the rock and roll technique on two of them. I cut them out using the Forever Flourishing dies which coordinate with the Forever Fern stamp set.

I used the Brilliant Wings dies to randomly cut out the "bubble" effect on the Whisper White layer. I also cut out the smallest detailed butterfly using a scrap of Daffodil Delight and Seaside Spray cardstock. It's hard to see in the photo, but I layered these together before adding a couple of Rhinestone basic jewels.

The "squares" on the background were achieved by sponging some Seaside Spray ink over one of the Forever Gold laser cut pieces (using it as a template) with a blending brush. It creates a subtle background effect.

The sentiment comes from the Forever Fern set, stamped onto Seaside Spray cardstock. I ran the edges of this piece gently through the Seaside Spray ink pad. I did the same with the Whisper White layer just to make it stand out a little more from the card base.

I hope you like my card. Please leave a comment, along with your name, if you don't mind. I would like to be able to say thank you.

Well Suited designer series paper cut with Tailored Tag Punch

Hello and welcome again to my blog.

Today's card features the Well Suited designer series paper as it is decidedly masculine, and this is a birthday card for my eldest brother. I chose five of the papers and cut the shapes with the Tailored Tag punch. You only need a few of each and can cut them down to size as you fill in the entire backing piece.

I stuck them, using Multi-purpose liquid glue, onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock big enough to show a small border on the Whisper White card base. The full shapes across the top row were where I started.

The Happy Birthday sentiment, stamped in Night of Navy ink, is from the "You are Amazing" stamp set. I cut it out using one of the dies from Tasteful Labels. I then cut another label from Night of Navy cardstock, but rather than use that piece, I fussy cut around what was left, creating a frame approximately 4mm wide. This was glued straight onto the patterned piece.

I tied a double knot in the middle of a short piece of Night of Navy twine and did the same with some Whisper White twine. Using my Take Your Pick tool I frayed the ends of the twine, then used glue dots to adhere them within the Night of Navy frame. Finally, I adhered the sentiment within the frame using dimensionals to give it some extra height.

I hope you like it - please leave a comment if you do.

Butterfly Brilliance Bundle with Love of Leaves card

Hello and welcome back to my blog. Today's post showcases the Butterfly Brilliance bundle which you can purchase from today (2 March 2021).

As a demonstrator I was able to purchase this as an early release. I love butterflies and this set really has a lot to offer including one large stamp with six different size and shape butterflies, a 12 piece die set, a 48 sheet pack of 6 x 6" designer series paper (DSP) and 2 sheets of 12 x 12" natural birch colour and texture paper. This will be available for customers to purchase from 2 March 2021.

The large butterfly was cut using the largest die in the set - it actually cuts out 6 in one go from one of the sheets of the Butterfly Bijou designer series paper (DSP). This DSP has some gorgeous prints on it. Here I have teamed it with a leaf from Love of Leaves. The small butterfly was fussy cut from another piece of the DSP.

First I ran the Whisper White thick card base through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine with one of the Greenery embossing folders. I then cut a strip of Night of Navy using the long narrow stitched rectangle from the Suit & Tie dies.

I inked the leaf from Love of Leaves with Misty Moonlight ink, then cut it out using both parts of the matching die. It's difficult to see in the photo but it embosses the leaf veins as it die cuts - brilliant!

The sentiment is from the Tranquil Thoughts stamp set, which I inked with Night of Navy onto a scrap of Whisper White, then fussy cut to keep it small. I wanted the butterfly to be the focal point.

Finally I added some Opal rounds to the body of the larger butterfly and coloured the small butterfly with Wink of Stella.

After finishing this card, I created another using three of the remaining butterflies that were cut with the large die. Then I stamped the large image and played around colouring in with the Stampin' blends.
